This is a story about two children who move into their new home when they are six years old. With the help of their father, Edward, the kids spend time in their newly furnished living room. They love watching the various colors change on an old television set and sit around in awe as they watch the moving pictures. Their mother never comes home from work, but she sends them money every day for them to buy anything they want from a store that is local to their house. The children soon come up with a plan to use this money to build a computer in their basement with which they can control all of their favorite TV shows and movies just by typing.

Louise Candlish's 'Our House' tells the story of a newlywed couple who, after buying a new house, find that there is something different about all of the doors in their home. They are initially relieved to discover that it was just for decoration when one night, out of the blue, one of the doors begins to move. After that event, they believe that there is a presence watching them and eventually come to learn that their house is haunted by its former owner, who died in the bedroom they slept in. The book has been praised by critics and readers alike for being engaging and thrilling while also being emotional and suspenseful at times.
