Of Books and Bagpipes Free Audiobook Download by Paige Shelton

A high schooler who has been kicked out of the house and all but exiled to the living room discovers her new passion for reading in this appealing debut.

In this well-paced, light-hearted romp through a small New England town, author Paige Shelton explores the relationship between books and bagpipes. Schoolteacher Phoebe Wright is trying to get her life in order by making time for both: she's found the perfect man, must decide whether to marry him or not, and is learning that there are books that can help people find their own way.

In the year of 1820, when the aristocrat Lord Edward Montague meets working-class librarian and Welsh immigrant Catherine Morgan, it's love at first sight. Her boring job is just a temporary stop between bookselling ventures until she can find her place in society.

This novel is set in Scotland, where the heroine's life is forever changed when her father dies and her family moves to a remote farm. Money becomes tight, so she sells the family's books and bagpipes, but these items become worth more than the family's livelihood. What should have been a new beginning turns into disaster as her family struggles to survive with no money or help from their creditors.

When fifteen-year-old Paige Shelton finds out that her mom, the librarian of their small town, has been murdered in a brutal attack by an escaped convict, she knows she'll never be able to find her mother's killer. The only lead is the diary recovered from her murder scene, which includes cryptic references to the book The Count of Monte Cristo. Using this information and a few clues from town gossip, Paige starts on a journey around their small town in search of answers.
