Johnny's mother tries to have the house restored to its former glory but many more years pass by as time takes its toll on the house. The book centers around how each member of this family handles what has happened to their lives after Johnny's death and how they deal with it all.

Needful Things is a novel about the dark side of small town life. It tells the story of Leland Gaunt, a man who comes to town with no one knowing that he is anything other than what he appears to be- a successful businessman. As time goes on, people start to realize that their families are not safe under his watchful eye. He begins to make money by selling "things" which often turn out to be more than they seem. As the book progresses, it becomes apparent that Leland has something else up his sleeve- but what?

Needful Things is a novel of the macabre, a story about greed, revenge and retribution. It was published in 1986 and has remained on the New York Times Bestseller List for 206 weeks. It is the first of King's Dark Tower series.

Never have I ever listened to an audiobook narrated by Stephen King in my life and it really did not disappoint. It's a book about a man trying to sell his junk for cash after he is unsuccessful in his attempt to sell Christmas decorations. As he says, "People go broke trying to sell things they don't need" and we are all guilty of holding on to the unnecessary trinkets in our lives.

Stephen King's stunning horror story is a modern classic. Needful Things is not only one of the best Stephen King stories in his vast canon, but it is also one of the best horror stories ever written. In this unusual tale, the devil himself comes to Needful Things and offers a deal that can't be refused: if you give up your most prized possession, part of you will go with it and never return.

Love it or hate it, Stephen King is a master storyteller and this audiobook is no exception. This book is part horror, part thriller and all Stephen King. It gets high marks in my opinion because of the intense drama that unfolds as this story progresses. A narrator with such an amazing ability to convey emotions in a way that can be felt by the listener will always get 5 stars from me.
