This is one of the most interesting stories I have ever listened to. It's about a boy named Travis who lives in an apartment complex but he doesn't know how to read or write and has never seen one book! He lives in a world where everyone does not know how to read or write, so they just give up. This is why he liked monsters. They were his escape from the boring life that people live in this place. However, when his monster comes back it shows him that things are different now and he needs to save the monsters in order to save himself.
Monster is the story of a young boy who, after being separated from his mother in a bus accident, wanders through post-atomic America. The novel begins with a framing device that follows the narrator's family as they struggle to survive in the wreckage of New York City. The protagonist describes many encounters with monsters (the size of bugs), which are created by radioactive animals that populate and fight for control of New York City.
Monster is a must read for any kid. It's the story of Juan, an 8-year-old boy who lives in Harlem with his single mother and his little brother. On Christmas Eve, he wakes up to find that the man downstairs has been replaced by a creature from his nightmares--the Devil! He takes Juan to hell where he meets all sorts of monsters who are friends and foes of the Devil.
