The audiobook's narrator does a great job portraying Master and Apprentice as well as providing different voices for all of the characters.

Master and Apprentice is the first new Star Wars novel in over thirty years. The story of a master and apprentice in the time before Anakin Skywalker was born, it tells of C-3PO and R2-D2's unlikely friendship with a special, aging droid that finds himself teaching the two how to repair droids while they teach him about his own obscure past.

The master and apprentice are actually a young married couple on their way to an out of the way planet with their family. The master is a Jedi Knight, but his apprentice is not. They have a train of droids that includes their gear, the food they need and Atton Rand, the wife of the master. Enroute to the planets surface, Atton realizes that something is wrong with her husband. His memories are gone and there is no mention of any previous training or mission he was on during his time before coming to her.
