Maggie-Now: A Novel Free Audiobook Download by Betty Smith

Maggie wins a blue ribbon at the county fair, but when she's left at home to mind her chickens and her other siblings while their parents go to the city, she's not content. When they return, she is transformed into a social butterfly, eager to please her parents by doing all of the chores they've left behind.

Once upon a time, there was somebody named Maggie-Now. She does not know what happened to her before she woke up in this place now called the "real" world. All she knows is that she is one of the few people left alive and inside an immense giant city where not everyone can leave.

Most of the stories in this novel take place in the 1930s with Maggie, a 12 year old protagonist. The story follows her as she deals with all aspects of growing up, including how to handle school and playtime, how to interact with the adults in her life and how to deal with hardships.

A mother and daughter stumble upon a box marked "Maggie-Now" in the attic. Maggie is the novel's protagonist, a little girl who falls off of a boat and is revived after she's been unconscious for days. The first chapter begins, "I'm finally happy again," as Maggie wakes up and learns that her mother has just left after their vacation to Great Britain. Maggie's father buys her an antique sled from a shop, which she uses to coast through all of London on winter break.

Maggie-Now tells the story of a young woman who, after a terrible accident, loses her memory and becomes very forgetful. The novel has many important themes in mind, like identity and the power of the past. It is also an excellent piece of work because it shows how we all have to deal with change and adapt to it.

Maggie is a happy little girl who dreams of playing in the snow like her older brother Michael. One day, when she gets lost while delivering ice cream with her dad, they are forced to take shelter in an old cellar. Here, she learns that there's nothing so scary as having no idea where you are and no obvious way out.
