Little Comfort Free Audiobook Download by Edwin Hill
I was pretty sure the title of this book was a misnomer, but I did hope it would at least be an enjoyable read. Little Comfort had all the markings of a terrible book: poor grammar, unoriginal ideas, and little to no editing. The first chapter introduces us to a woman named Willow. She is not just any woman, she's pregnant! And for some reason, this pregnancy is causing Willow to feel things that she never has before. Willow decides that she needs to find comfort in her mother's bed with her fiancé and best friend Will by her side on their anniversary. As they lay down together, they can't help but think back on their first meeting, which sounds like something straight out of a romantic comedy.
Little Comfort is a unique, curious and magical coming of age story set in the hills of Appalachia. It tells the story of Alice and her sister Kate who are sent to live with their eccentric uncle on his farm during wartime. With the help of an old bookshelf, they find a world where witches still walk, fairies sleep on your window sill and your parents are not always who you think they are. A black and white film made by the author's grandfather accompanies this novel in telling Alice's story as she struggles to come to terms with what she believes is magic, love and life.
"Little Comfort" by Edwin Hill is a heart-wrenching novel. The narrator, Karen White, is a woman who has just made the decision to move her life and leave her old comfort zone behind to pursue a new career and new opportunities. As she leaves the area where she has lived for the past twenty years and begins her new life, she can't help but think back on all of the great memories she had with those who have left her. Little Comfort tells the story of how hard it is to leave your country when everything you know and love is in one place.
Karen White does an amazing job of reading this book to the children who suffer from cancer. She tells them that even though they are currently in pain and feeling unloved, God still loves them and will be with them. Karen also makes it clear to the children that their parents feel this way too by mentioning their names throughout the audiobook. The children often ask Karen to read the verses again and again because they can't believe how much love Karen is giving them.
You are lonely. You have spent long years trying to find the perfect person, sitting around waiting for them to come and make your life complete. When one day you see a couple who has been laughing and enjoying each other's company, you think maybe this is the person you have been waiting for all these years. But as you watch them leave, you realize that your heart may never stop beating as long as it doesn't have hope in an emotional connection with someone else.
Little Comfort is a short story written by Edwin Hill. It was originally published in the same anthology as his essay "The Man Who Murdered Jesus." The title connotes a sense of familiarity, a feeling of comfort, especially one that contradicts that of Christianity. This short story depicts a man who kills Jesus and is banished to a place with no escape.
