If He Had Been with Me is the true story of a young woman's struggle to find peace in her life. Gina Rogers, who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, has a hard time finding love or happiness. She married her high school sweetheart and thought everything would be perfect--until he cheated on her. Unhappy, confused, and uncertain about what she wants from life, she finds herself at a crossroads. With just 8 weeks left until her wedding day when she meets the man of her dreams--but will she give him a chance? Can she live up to the expectations that everyone around her has for her marriage?

Narrated by Gina Rogers, the book tells the story of Abby and her teenage son, Jake. Jake is always overdoing it, especially when it comes to girls at school, which leads to a lot of fights. When he says his first girlfriend broke up with him because she didn't want to be seen with him in public anymore, it's Abby's turn to take charge and teach him how to navigate relationships more effectively. She teaches him how his actions affect others and how he can get back out there.

If He Had Been with Me is a story about love, loss and friendship. It takes place in the early 1960's and it follows four friends as they grow from teenagers to adults- coping with high school cliques, dating, and heartbreak.

I am in love with the story of If He Had Been With Me, but the description just made me not believe it was a true story. It turns out that this "true life" event actually happened to Laura Nowlin, who was present for her husband's entire heart transplant and recovery. I've read other reviews comparing the book to Nicholas Sparks novels and saying that there wasn't enough emotion or suspense. But I disagree. I loved this book- despite my 30 seconds of confusion about whether or not it actually happened.

If He Had Been with Me by Laura Nowlin is the second book in a series that follows the lives of three women and their families. These women are very different, but they are unified by one thing: their husbands were killed during the terrorist attacks on United States soil in 2001. This story brings to light many issues including PTSD and terrorism. The audiobook version of this book is narrated by Gina Rogers who does an excellent job of reading this read aloud.

A woman is driving home to her small town in Texas after a long day of work. Along the way, she gets pulled over by a police officer and winds up in jail for a crime she didn't commit. She struggles with her survival, determination, and justice as the story unfolds and Law Enforcement Officer, Mark King, has other plans for her.
