The story is about a woman, Paddie, who is entering her sixties and has never married. She's had many relationships during her life but none of them were ever meant to be long-term. She spends the majority of her time playing bridge with friends and tending to her niece, Tara. When one day Paddie gets a call from a man named Alex from Ireland that changes everything for her.
Fannie Flagg is a bestselling author of New York Times bestsellers. She has published television sitcoms, movies, and numerous other works that have been turned into movies in various genres. Her most recent book, I Still Dream About You: A Novel, was released on November 24th 2018.
Fannie Flagg's books are always entertaining to read, and they always make me laugh. The story is about a woman that likes to watch the people in her life fall in love, but she doesn't have time for relationships herself. One day, when she sees her son getting his heart broken by a woman he's been dating for a while now, she decides it's time to make changes.
This book is a great story about the ups and downs of love. It starts out with Annie, who works for an ad agency in Manhattan and always has her nose buried in her work. She doesn't want that to be the reason she loses her job so she takes a stand and quits. She moves back to Alabama with her aunt, uncle, and twin cousins. It is there that she meets Zack, an old friend from high school who has just moved down to town to be closer to his wife's family. They like each other right away but it isn't until they start dating that they realize they are better off as friends but still care very much for each other.
When I was younger, I found myself enthralled in stories of life in the south during the early twentieth century. The first novel that captivated me was To Kill a Mockingbird. When I read this classic, I instantly fell in love with the narrator, Scout. For years, I dreamed about her and her adventures as she grew up living in Maycomb County.
Fannie Flagg has written many good books, but one of my favorites is I Still Dream About You. I love her style of writing and the way she captures the hearts of her readers. Her book starts out with a woman whose husband dies and leaves her for another woman. This event causes great changes in both their lives, but after time they are able to find peace and happiness together again.
