In 1969, the United States government took a couple of teenagers from different backgrounds and put them to work at the atomic bomb factory. These teenagers live in Japan during World War II, in a place where America is considered a mythical country that could never be reached. These boys meet three Japanese girls who they develop feelings for and they try to keep their relationship a secret until it is too late. In this narration, these voices tell the story of what happens when relationships cross boundaries, how love can conquer all obstacles, and how two people can make something beautiful out of painful memories.

Twenty-two year old Josie Tanaka is passionate about her music, always playing and practicing the piano in her home. She works her way through school, never giving up on anything or anyone. The only problem is that she's poor and has no money for college. When she meets 28 year old James Tatum, Josie thinks that maybe he can help her out of this situation. Little does she know that this is going to be a much bigger struggle than what she had originally thought it was going to be.

How High We Go in the Dark is a novel by Sequoia Nagamatsu. It tells the story of a young man, Liam, who is left to his own devices while his father is away on business. When Liam comes across a mysterious powder, he tries it and finds himself thrust into another world- one where he must fight to survive against an unknown evil.

The story is set in the near future and tells the tale of four individuals with extraordinary abilities who must seek refuge aboard a spaceship heading to Mars. They are recruited by a group of genetic engineers attempting to perfect humanity. One of these four individuals is born-blind, and as a result, he cannot see color or appreciate the beauty in life. His name is Ren and through his journey we learn that there is more to life than what our eyes can see.

A young woman leaves the city for a remote cabin in upstate New York to care for her sick father. When she arrives, she discovers that her father has passed away and she must complete his work as if he were still alive. She is encouraged by a variety of supernatural beings and forces who have been inhabiting the property for decades to take over his work in order to save them from total annihilation.

When the protagonist of the book, Adele, has a chance encounter with Ethan in his car, he takes her to a party at a secret location. It's clear that Ethan is not your normal college student and Adele meets a lot of interesting people there. The two start dating but is it just one big coincidence?
