Sometimes people decide to buy, borrow or share an audiobook with friends and family members. Sharing is caring! If you are considering this route, you may want to take a look at "Herringbones and Hexes" by Nancy Warren narrated by Sarah Zimmerman.

Herringbones and Hexes is a work of historical fantasy, set in 18th-century England. For her publisher's sake, Nancy Warren creates her novels in long-winded series, which is why she has to take the people back in time with her. This novel follows a scientist who was sent into the past to learn more about herbs and plants. On this journey he meets Aliana, an Irish servant girl who tells him that she knows a way to go back and forth between present day and the 18th century. He decides it's worth trying and they make their journey together.

The over-arching message of this audiobook is to be cautious, because things are not always what they seem. The story follows a young girl who is the last living member of her family. She has to find a way to save them from the plague which is wiping out everyone else in the village. The narrator starts off as an innocent, likeable narrator that you might expect someone trying to help someone facing a real danger to sound like. But before long she changes into an older woman, unafraid of death and willing to take drastic steps even if it means going against social mores or laws.

Herringbones and Hexes is a novel about a witch who is looking for her cat. It's perfect for summertime because it's short, mysterious, and interesting enough that you'll want to keep listening. The narrator does a great job of bringing in the suspense and excitement.
