Dirk Cussler and Clive Cussler are a father-son writing duo. The two authors have much in common: they both love the sea and sailing, so it’s no surprise that most of their novels take place on or around water. They collaborated for decades on many successful series including the Dirk Pitt Adventures and NUMA Files. Sadly, Clive passed in 2013, but his son continues to write books in the family tradition with his father's blessing.

Havana Storm is an action-packed thriller about Dirk Pitt's search for his father James, who mysteriously disappeared in Cuba. The book starts when the Cuban government abruptly and inexplicably releases him from prison. The US goes into full panic mode as a mob of reporters, cameramen, and family members descend on the rescued man. However, he refuses to divulge any information about what happened to him and is taken away by the FBI without a word. Parallel to this story, Pitt's son Dirk Jr. is in Havana investigating his father's imprisonment when he blackmails an officer at the American Embassy by exposing him as an operative with Cuban intelligence at the same time that his father is being released. He goes undercover in order to find out what happened behind bars with his dad but realizes too late that it might be too late to save him this time.

"Elena's death was the catalyst, propelling Pitt and the NUMA team to investigate the scene. They discover that this was no random act of violence and that Elena had been deliberately killed with a bomb-rigged shotgun. The nuclear enhanced device detonated with sufficient strength to level a downtown core. But Pitt soon realizes it's only the first step in a chilling plan." - excerpt from audible
