Gone With the Wind Free Audiobook Download by Margaret Mitchell

Gone With the Wind is a novel written by Margaret Mitchell. The book was originally published in 1936. It has since become a classic of American literature. A stormy summer night sends Scarlett O'Hara fleeing Atlanta for Charleston, South Carolina, where her fiancé, Rhett Butler, lives. Fleeing from her uncaring mother and an unpredictable future, Scarlett becomes captivated by the world of antebellum society and leaves everything she knows behind when she impulsively marries Rhett and moves to his plantation home in Georgia.

The novel by Margaret Mitchell tells the story of Margaret 'Scarlett' O'Hara who is from Atlanta and falls in love with Ashley Wilkes, a Georgia plantation owner. She manages to outwit her father and run away with Ashley during a storm, but their plans are ruined when she finds out he was engaged to another woman.

Margaret Mitchell's Gone With the Wind is universally considered, deservedly so, as one of the greatest novels ever written. The story follows Scarlett O'Hara through her life in the antebellum South and it also gives a glimpse into social and political issues during the time of slavery.

This audiobook is quite a classic for those who love a litter of books about the old South. The story is told from the perspective of Scarlett O'Hara, who is one of the main characters in the novel. She is portrayed as someone who has been loved and treated like a princess by her family, but then lost most of it after she had to marry one man, Ashley Wilkes. This audiobook is not only great because its story lets you listen to an insightful look into the plight that many slaves went through when they were forced to work on plantations, but also because it was originally narrated by Linda Stephens herself!

With over 18 hours of content, the audiobook version of Gone With the Wind is one of the longest on the market. The narrator, Linda Stephens, is also a well-known voice in children's audiobooks, so listeners are treated to a sweet and soothing narration and good sound quality.

There is no way that I would be able to finish this book without the help of a narrator. The story does not seem to move as fast as it should because I always have to stop and look up who someone is or what happened in a previous chapter. There are many names of people, places and events that I find by googling them after getting tired of the narrator's voice.
