Girl, Alone (An Ella Dark FBI Suspense Thriller—Book 1) Audiobook Download by Blake Pierce
Girl, Alone is a thrilling and suspenseful thriller that had me at the edge of my seat from the very beginning. I loved Ella Dark, she's strong and independent, but also vulnerable. The narrative switches between past and present as it tells the story of how she came to be an FBI agent. There are plenty of twists and turns along the way to keep you guessing until the end.
Ella Dark is a private investigator. The name of her agency is really an alias, as she was forced to take on the case of one of the most powerful men in New York City. The man's daughter, who happens to be Ella's best friend from childhood, has gone missing and he claims she never left his house. There are no signs of struggle or disturbance that would suggest something more sinister happened...but there is evidence in the form of her blood on the inside of the door where it wouldn't be seen if she were still inside. As Ella starts to investigate, it quickly becomes clear that this situation isn't what it seems.
Girl, Alone is a suspenseful and darkly thrilling best seller by Blake Pierce. The book takes place in a world where the government has gone to extreme lengths to control people's lives, based on their social class. Ella Dark is an FBI agent who gets caught up in the web of corruption that is threatening to destroy her life. As soon as I started listening to Girl, Alone, I knew that I was going to love it. It had everything that I am into: suspenseful scenes, action-packed story line and strong female characters with complex personality traits. There was only one minor downside - the narrator did not do justice to this amazing book!
Anna is a young woman who has a great life in Chicago, enjoying her job and wonderful circle of friends. Suddenly, she wakes up one morning to find that everything has changed. The FBI has swept away all traces of her existence, and the people she loves are gone. Reduced to living on the streets under the assumed identity of Sara Lane, Anna struggles to survive as she searches for clues about what happened to those she left behind. Amidst this struggle she finds that there is more at stake than just surviving, as someone from her past is trying to start another war with the US.
Waking up in a car is never fun, especially if the person you woke up with is the last person you want to be stuck with. A terrible car crash has left Ella alone and with no memory of anything before she woke up, but her new partner has dropped hints that it may all be connected to a massive international criminal conspiracy involving some very dangerous people. With the help of her smart new assistant, Ella starts to put together pieces of her puzzle, but it seems like every trail leads back to one man—the last man she wants to get caught up with.
In the first half of this book, we get a sense of what it's like to be a woman who is flawed and not perfect. This is the exact reason why it's so much fun to read Girl, Alone. We get a sense of her flaws and watch them go from one extreme to another. In the second half, Ella goes through some hard times. It's not just about where she is in life (which is running for her life), but also about how she handles these situations that are even more difficult than anything she faced before.
