They soon encounter Tyler Harnett, who offers them shelter in his ranch house. When they arrive, they find that there is also another woman waiting for them. It is not long before their lives spiral out of control as one wrong move would lead to a life-threatening situation.

When a girl named Casey gets into trouble, she finds herself in a dangerous situation. She is arrested, but she is rescued before the night is over by Owen and Sienna. Casey is taken to the Chaos compound where she meets her sister who has been missing for several years. With only a handful of people left alive to care for them, life in Chaos becomes harder every day for Casey and her sister.

As the story begins, we are lead to believe it is a typical day. The story begins with a man waking from an accidental nap and he's no longer at home. He goes to a nearby bodega for coffee when he realizes that not only has his apartment been ransacked, but his wallet is gone too. He decides to seek help from the local authorities and as he returns home in a cab, his driver gets killed when his cab rams into a fire truck leaving him to survive on his own. There is just one problem - Molly, the girl who was going out with him before all of this happened, lives in the building and she's pregnant with their child. He tries desperately to find her, but each time he pursues her she disappears until finally they meet up at the hospital where she gives birth to their son without ever saying hi or hearing anything about what happened since it's all been so crazy lately.
