Fifty Words for Rain: A Novel Free Audiobook Download by Asha Lemmie

Fifty Words for Rain is a novel by Asha Lemmie that tells the story of three people from different backgrounds as they come together to form an unlikely friendship. In alternating chapters, the story follows two of these characters, Sadie and Jena and how their families intertwine with each other through a house in the Boston area. Each character has their own personal challenges that are highly connected to their thoughts and fears about the future. The third character, Elijah, comes into contact with both of them as he searches for his grandmother's missing dog.

Eleven-year old Ella follows her older brother's footsteps and decides to go out on a log. On the way home, she gets lost in the woods and sees an animal that she is startled by. She tries to run away from the animal but trips and falls into a ravine before it can catch her. She wakes up with no memory of her past and has been "abandoned" at an institution for children, who call themselves "Hollowchildren."

The year is 2017 and most of the population has been eradicated by a virus that causes a rapid death once symptoms start to show. Those who survive have found themselves living in a dystopia where those who are deemed "pure" are brought to live in luxury while those who are "impure" are labeled as such and taken to be used for medical experiments and ultimately killed. One of them, Hannah is captured for this purpose by "the boys." They didn't tell her exactly what would happen because they knew she wouldn't cooperate otherwise, but she was determined to find out for herself.
