The story follows a detective in London who comes across an article about a man who has been arrested for murder. It is said that he shot his wife twice in cold blood. When the detective investigates, he finds that this is not at all the case as they are looking for a motive behind the murder.

In this audiobook, the reader is offered to follow a trial of the crime in progress over the course of 4 days. The premise of the novel is based on a court room drama that mixes murder and legal drama.

Our protagonist, Percy Fellows, is a man in his mid twenties who has just joined the FBI after working for the CIA for years.
