Before I started reading this novel, I had heard about it over and over again. People told me about the book's many twists and turns. They said it was an interesting story with a unique plot. But when I finally got to read it myself, all of these merits were thrown right out the window. Don't Cry for Me is one of those books that are good enough to get your attention but not good enough to continue reading.
Can you have an audiobook that's meant to be read in print? This book is a novel mixed with some memoir-style writing by the author who tells his story of being bullied as a kid and then making it as an adult. Whether you are looking for something light or heavy, this book is for you.

Daniel Black has a complicated and tumultuous life. He is content with his family and his job of teaching at the local high school, but he is haunted by the death of his older brother. His dark moods draw almost no one close to him, until he meets Anna - a beautiful, young student with a troubled past who becomes Daniel's light in the darkness. Daniel and Anna start dating, leading to an intimate moment that changes their relationship forever. The novel ends with Daniel driving away from Anna's house after she tells him she doesn't want anything more from him-that she can't be friends because it will never work.
