Dawn Free Audiobook Download by Elie Wiesel
If a person has never read, or heard of the book Dawn, it is quite possible that they haven't even heard of Elie Wiesel. This audiobook follows the life of Elie from his childhood until he was taken to Auschwitz concentration camp. It is narrated by [George Guidall].
This is a listening audiobook which was recorded by George Guidall in 2016. It is based on the memoir of Elie Wiesel and tells the story of Jean-Michel, a young Jewish boy living in a concentration camp during World War II.
"As dawn approaches, I know that my life is about to change forever. It has changed already," Wiesel says in his flat and emotionless delivery on this audiobook-only version of the memoir. The book is full of the anguish and heartbreak one would expect from a subject matter like this, but it doesn't really deliver on its promise. Guidall's monotone narration keeps you from feeling anything at all, and the sparse imagery does little to capture the horror for which it is meant.
In his childhood, Elie Wiesel endured many terrible things. He was sent to Auschwitz as a young teenager and saw the most horrifying of human atrocities. One day (Dawn) he woke up in a dark room with no windows and had no idea what was going on. That was just the beginning of his nightmare.
The name 'Dawn' is actually a metaphor for the beginning of a new era, with all the dangers and difficulties that come with it. Dawn has been available as an audiobook since 1962 and was originally published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. George Guidall narrated this edition of Dawn and his performance produces an immersive reading experience.
