The girls grow up in this atmosphere of neglect, misguided love and secrecy until they find each other at 18 when one of them begins to write to her mothers' new husband.

This is a book that has been long overdue on my reading list. I love re-tellings of the Greek classics, and this one was no exception... The language is rich, poetic, and lyrical.
