Cilka's Journey: A Novel Free Audiobook Download by Heather Morris
Cilka is a young woman who, after the death of her mother at a young age, flees with her father to America. She finds herself standing in front of Ellis Island, the beginning to a new life for her and her family. When Cilka returns to Europe many years later, she has forgotten most of the English that she learned in America and has no idea what to expect. As she learns how different the two countries are, she is shocked to find out that some things never change.
This is a story about what happens to the protagonist when her family starts to fall apart. Cilka's Journey, is a novel by Heather Morris that is narrated by Louise Brealey.
Cilka's Journey is a story of a woman who lives with her family in England. She starts to consider leaving when she and her daughter have to endure more hardships due to the economic crisis in South America.
Cilka and her family take a trip to Europe for the first time in their lives. When they arrive in France, Cilka's father is knocked off his bike by a stray dog, and Cilka is left trying to figure out how she can help him and still go on with their trip.
In the 1930s all of the women in Cilka's family die of strange illnesses, except for her. At thirteen she is sent to live with relatives who might know a cure and by 18 she has an arranged marriage to the son of one of these relatives. She never finds love or happiness but eventually discovers that she has powers that allow her to save her people from what is coming next. The audiobook narration is good and I would recommend this title for those without any background knowledge about Eastern European history.
It's the story of a young woman who has been put up for adoption, and then one day she finds out that the family who adopted her is none other than her parents.
