Carved in Stone is the first book in the Nightglass Trilogy by Elizabeth Camden. In this thrilling series, six amnesiacs wake up with their memories gone and a strange scar on their wrist. They are all connected to different parts of the world and they must find out why they have been chosen and what the nightglass is before it's too late. They discover more than they expected about themselves and each other.
A suspenseful audiobook about a rising star in the field of archaeology, Carved in Stone is beautifully narrated by Pilar Witherspoon.
I was really excited about listening to this book for two reasons. The first is that I love the story of 'Carved in Stone' and the second is that I am a huge fan of Pilar Witherspoon, who narrates the audiobook version. Unfortunately, her narration was not at all what I had expected and I ended up being disappointed by the entire experience.
The story revolves around Olivia, a young girl without hope who is dealing with the death of her mother by carving in stone what she believes to be her mother's final words.
The story is about a seventeen-year-old girl, Rosie, who is struggling to survive in a world where there are no more adults. There's talk of an unknown virus that wiped out the adults and turned them into children before they died.
In this audiobook by Elizabeth Camden, three sisters, Sara, Lila and Bethany, struggle with how to live with the effects of their mother's mental illness. As a result of her illness, their mom has been in and out of mental hospitals for decades. The three young girls are growing up without a parent even though she is still alive. In order to move past their struggles as children, they decide to take matters into their own hands by creating a sculpture that embodies all their emotions from the years before her illness.
