Candle in the Darkness Free Audiobook Download by Lynn Austin
Candle in the Darkness by Lynn Austin tells one woman's story of her journey to the past, present and future. It explores the concept of love and marriage that is so often mistaken for matrimony. The main character, Diana, is a 19th century lady who has been forced into an arranged marriage with a man she does not know much about. Determined to make her way in a world she does not know, Diana marries her betrothed knowing that he will be amenable only if she changes herself to gain his favor.
The story opens with a wedding, one that's been in the works for years but finally came to fruition. The bride has had a crush on her best friend, the groom, for nearly their whole lives but never said anything; instead, she holds herself back from him. Her discomfort with her feelings and the fear of rejection leads to some intense moments in the weeks leading up to the wedding, which culminates in a confrontation beforehand. This is one of Lynn Austin's most beautiful stories about love in all its forms and it's worth listening to for new listeners or those who loved it on narration alone.
Candle in the Darkness is the third book in Lynn Austin's Elizabeth series. It follows on from the second book, The Bodyguard, where Elizabeth and her best friend Anne are on a "spiritual" journey of self-discovery and find themselves caught up in a power struggle with a ruthless woman who has a lot at stake.
Candle in the Darkness is a remarkable novel. The narrator, Christina Moore, brings to life the characters and their struggles very well. As mentioned before, Lynn Austin has written a novel that is about love and hope overcoming all obstacles no matter how difficult.
Christina Moore does a great job narrating this audiobook! I enjoyed listening to it, so much that I couldn't help but cry at the end.
Candle in the Darkness is a compelling story set in Sierra Leone. It's about one woman's faith and determination to leave her past behind and start a new chapter. This story of love is told from three perspectives; God, love, and the woman herself.
