[Elizabeth Jasicki] is an accomplished narrator who does a really good job of capturing the different characters in this story. Her voice for Lillian is charming and her voice for Duke is seductive, making it easy to imagine how these two would come together. She also gets pretty good at changing voices between different characters and accents.
Bringing Down the Duke tells the story of a girl named Evie Dunmore who has been home schooled for most of her life. Evie quickly navigates herself into the role of his daughter and finds herself at odds with Jaxon and his new fiancé on multiple occasions.
Sleeping Beauty is probably one of the most iconic stories ever written. It has been told and re-told since its publication in 1835, and it's sold over 100 million copies worldwide. With all this success, it makes sense why so many have tried to rewrite the story themselves. Now, a new take on Sleeping Beauty is here--bringing down a different Duke by Evie Dunmore narrated by Elizabeth Jasicki.
The Duke of Wensleydale was supposed to be a wedding that would unite the country in rejoicing. The Duchess of Wycliffe had been kept out for so long, and now her sister's marriage signaled her return to society. Everyone knows she is as kind and gentle as she is beautiful. This should have been the perfect evening in which to celebrate the royal family's recovery from tragedy.
A 'chance encounter with a handsome duke' may seem like an great beginning to a romantic adventure, but instead it leads to the narrator being imprisoned in the tower of this mysterious man. The Duke has had a vast experience in dark magic, which he plans on using to bring down other dukes across the land by any means necessary.
