Bewilderment: A Novel Free Audiobook Download by Richard Powers

Bewilderment: A Novel by Richard Powers audiobook download has a storyline that is told from three perspectives - the first of which was written in the past tense and then some time has passed. This book tells the story of John, who is on his way to see his kidnapped daughter Ann after she disappeared from his house at their summer home in Italy from when he left her there.

"Bewilderment" is a literary novel about a gifted, wealthy, brilliant physicist named Charles who feels uncertain and lost in his own life. His wife has just left him with his children for a man she says is better suited to raise them. Charles can't figure out what went wrong with the relationship or where to go from here-until he finds a curious thing in his garage: an old box of slides depicting the past, present and future of himself at different ages. It is not until Charles realizes that these slides could be evidence that he is actually an alien sent to Earth as a child that he begins to understand the true meaning of life and love.

The novel is narrated by a man who lost his whole world in a freak accident. The narrator regains consciousness to discover that he has been trapped inside of his own head and he's unable to communicate with the outside world. He slowly realizes that he doesn't just have one personality; he has more than one. Powers uses this character's confusion to explore the mind's ability to create an internal narrative for every person.

Richard Powers's novel Bewilderment is a strange one. The novel begins with the discovery of a single word at the bottom of a page in an anthropologist's notebook, and starts exploring our love for conjecture and certainty. It follows a man who is convinced that he has glimpsed the meaning of life, but as he moves through it, other people are likewise reaching out to grasp reality before it vanishes from their grasp.

When she realizes that the writing of her dissertation, one of the most important papers in a career that has consumed her life, is fragmenting into incoherent fragments, she begins to wonder if the writing itself is unraveling. She thinks back to when she first came to know of this disorder and remembers how scared she was. That anxiety has never completely left her.
