Beloved Free Audiobook Download by Toni Morrison
This is one of the most complete and unique audiobooks I have listened to. It is narrated by Toni Morrison herself. And really, it is worth going through the effort to find it online. The story has been recorded in four parts and each part goes through a different time period that you can get lost in as well as Morrison's interpretation of what an individual character must be thinking and feeling at any given point during the story.
Morrison's Beloved, one of the most celebrated novels in American literature, is a suspenseful and disturbing story revolving around a young woman and her husband who are forced by a violent white mob to let their daughter go to an institution. The novel tells the story of Sethe's 13 years spent raising her two children. In this time, she has been stalked by the men who killed her daughter and found refuge with her family on Sweet Home Farm where they live on the outskirts of Cincinnati. With its mix of rich Southern folklore and haunting flashbacks, the novel has been lauded as richly atmospheric while also being deeply complex.
