As it turns out, I'm reading a book right now with the title of "Angle of Repose," and I can't seem to put it down. It's about a place in the Rocky Mountains, called Rendezvous Creek, that Wallace Stegner spent time working on as an engineer on a railroad project. The story is told through his memories from when he was young and when he was an old man.
