What to do when you are faced with a dead end? You start a new career. So it is with Miranda, who is one of several French agents who are spying on British soil in the first world war. The Parisian agents were sent to report on British military movements and found that the more they learned about British society, the more fond they became of their cover. In fact, Miranda becomes so immersed in her mission that she doesn't even know who she is anymore.

An Unlikely Spy: A Novel by Rebecca Starford is a suspenseful spy thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. This novel is told from multiple POVs, which makes it hard to predict what might happen next. I enjoyed listening to this novel, which is also narrated by ['Jane Collingwood'] who does an amazing job.

In the novel "An Unlikely Spy", Jane Collingwood and her five-year-old daughter, Beatrice, are living in East Germany during the Cold War. They are living a seemingly normal life without any worries until one day Jane's friend from England comes to visit. From there on, everything goes haywire and we get to see how Jane survives the entire ordeal.

In this gripping novel, Jane is an unlikely spy. The plot is fairly straight-forward. Jane and her husband Edward are the owners of a small toy company, and they have to find out what else their ex wife, Anne, might be planning to destroy the company from within. This book is told from the perspective of two different characters or narrators, who each tell their story in alternating chapters. Overall it's a good mystery for those who want something new and will keep you listening.

In 1878, during the Victorian Period, a young woman named Sarah Stoddard is found dead in her cottage by her maid. The only clue left behind are two letters: one addressed to the mysterious Mr. X, and another to her husband Edward. A few months later, Edward receives an unexpected note from a man he has never met before. He's been accused of murder and begs for his life by telling him that he can prove his innocence by finding out who really killed Sarah.

Jane Collingwood narrates this spy novel and the suspense builds as she tries to piece together what is going on around her. There is so much happening she is never sure who to trust.
