An Orphan's Journey Free Audiobook Download by Rosie Goodwin

"Children's stories are a special part of our literary heritage." This is a quote from the author of An Orphan's Journey. As this audiobook begins, "Charlie Sanderson" relays the story of an orphaned girl who witnesses her whole family die when their boat capsizes. As she is picked up by the rescue crew, she reflects how people will take care of them and how they'll never be hungry again.

'Charlie' is told a bedtime story by his mother. He learns the story of an orphan called Lizzie, who moves in with her aunt and uncle after her parents die. She has special powers, including the ability to speak with animals. Charlie learns that he too has these same powers and sets off on an adventure to find his birth family. Along the way he meets many different characters, like a girl who can talk to birds and a fortune teller who tries to help him along his journey.

I fell in love with this book! Charles Sanderson's voice makes the dystopian world come to life and adds so much depth to the already powerful story.

It is the summer before seventh grade and Rosie has just been abandoned. Her parents had left a note saying they were moving to California and would not be back for a year. She's been living with her grandparents since the eighth grade and she can't wait for that year to end so she can finally go off to college where she will make new friends, live on her own, and find a purpose. Rosie doesn't quite know what that purpose is going to be but she knows that it will have meaning and purpose.

Charlie Sanderson narrates this book in 'Charlie's voice' which is a powerful, masculine voice that will cause you to feel what he feels when he is going through these tough times. It really helps the listener to feel like they are there with him and not just listening to the story.
