Laurie and Matt wrote about their marriage, raising children, and their conversion stories in this book. They explained what it was like to be married to someone who was not their same-sex partner, loved their children and each other. Their story is full of ups and downs, laughter and tears as they interact with friends and family who are also not heterosexual.

In 2016, I married my wife, Laurie. She is a Christian and I am not. We are married in the Lord's sight and we love each other deeply. We live across three countries as well as being in different states of ministry. All of this has led to a life-changing experience and deep love story that gives us insight into how our marriage is better than many others out there.

In this first book in the series, 'An Impossible Marriage: What Our Mixed-Orientation Marriage Has Taught Us About Love and the Gospel,' Laurie Krieg and Matt Krieg share their story of a mixed-orientation marriage. This is not a typical love story of a "Happily Ever After" but one that is full of challenges and questions that many couples face. Laurie and Matt share how their relationship with God, our Savior, has helped them to find happiness despite the challenges they have faced.

How the Kriegs made an impossible marriage work A few years ago, I met a woman I fell in love with. By the time we were married, she was pregnant with a daughter, who she had been carrying for six months. The adoption process would only be finalized when she reached 18, but that didn't stop us from wedding preparations; we had a beautiful ceremony and reception. The day of our wedding, my bride-to-be found out I was gay. We decided to forge ahead with the wedding anyway and two months later, we were divorced.

"An Impossible Marriage" was originally published in the fall of 2012 and has been an instant best seller. This book is a hopeful, practical, and humorous look at what it's like to live in marriages that defy cultural expectations. The book takes a comedic view on the steps necessary to find love again after divorce or separation, navigating uncertainty about one's religious beliefs and identity, and living with a partner who experiences attraction for people of the same gender.

Some time ago, Laurie and I discovered that we identify as bisexual. It was not a decision we made lightly, nor did it come easily. We had been dating for years before the realization hit us that our attraction to each other could go both ways. Our mixed-orientation marriage has been tumultuous at times, but ultimately it has brought us closer together and helped us form a deeper understanding of love in its many forms.
