An Echo in the Darkness is a story about triumph over slavery and the end of fear. The main character, Esau, begins as a slave in Egypt but comes to believe that he can achieve freedom through his work and his faith. He eventually becomes a personal servant of God and takes care of many people.
Richard Ferrone, who has a voice so deep and rich, has narrated this audiobook. It is very rare that I read an audiobook and am unable to put it down till the end because someone's voice just doesn't sound good or does not fit the story.
A woman, who was abused by her husband, puts her life back together. This is a love story about the power of forgiveness and restoration.
An Echo in the Darkness is a novel of hope, told in the voice of two women: Reeve, who lost her newborn baby girl to whom she named Eve, and Evangeline, a woman who has lived for nearly eight hundred years.
Francine Rivers novel is set in the late 70s and follows the story of a cop named Marcus Nightingale. As he is driving back from a night shift, he gets pulled over by two policemen because his car's taillight isn't working. It soon becomes clear that they're not just doing this as a routine stop, they are looking for him to kill him and cover it up like any other unsolved crime.
The audio book was the perfect way for me to wake up a little earlier and stay awake through the early morning hours. It is suspenseful, with moments of heartbreak, hope and redemption. The narrator, Richard Ferrone was his usual excellent self and it made it easy to get lost in his voice. I also loved how they were able to include different voices of both men and women throughout this novel which really added to the story line from beginning to end.
