Agnes at the End of the World Free Audiobook Download by Kelly Mcwilliams
Agnes is an imaginative young woman who has always loved to travel and explore, but after being diagnosed with a heart arrhythmia, she's forced to stay home from her adventure-filled trip abroad. Her anxiety soars when she's forced to live through the end of her life as her body slowly becomes weaker. But Agnes finds solace in the poetry of Walt Whitman and a shared vision between a frog and a fish.
The book follows Agnes, a 14-year-old girl living in a small town in the north as she begins to explore her sexuality and becomes more involved with the local boys. Things get interesting when some of the boys start disappearing.
In 2013, Kelly Mcwilliams' husband passed away. He was a veteran fighter pilot who had many friends from the military. In his honor, she created a blog to document their time spent together as well as share stories of other veterans who died in service of our country. One day while doing research on her husband's name, she came across an article about a WWII pilot named John Ainsworth who crashed in a remote area of New Zealand and lived there for nearly 30 years before dying at the age of 87. The story made her question what life would be like if she lived the same long life he did.
Agnes at the End of the World is a beautifully written book. It’s about growing up in the 1960’s and 70’s on the edge of nowhere, dreaming of bigger and better things than going to high school in this small town where she doesn’t feel like she belongs.
The audiobook, narrated by Brittany Pressley, is a sweet and endearing tale of Agnes who has finally found her happiness.
