Absaroka Ambush Free Audiobook Download by William W. Johnstone
The world has changed since the dark days of the 1990s. Gone are the days when bad things like guns, drugs, and gangs controlled the cities. The old lawmen who fought back those old days have gone, too. And where there used to be law and order, now there is only chaos and suffering for the average citizen.
The title refers to a group of men that plan on ambushing the US Cavalry under Captain John Fremont in the Wyoming Valley. They are lead by William W. Johnstone (or 'J. Rodney Turner') and their plan is an inside job, to kill a member of the scouting party so they can steal his uniform and horse. The captain, who has just arrived from St. Louis, although he doesn't know what's going on, is forced to follow orders if he wants to go home alive.
The keynote speaker is a former Marine, who has come to honor the fallen heroes of the Absaroka Ambush. After his speech, he tries to leave but questions rise as to "who" shot the Marines and why they did so. All the while terrorists are running rampant in the area.
The Absaroka Ambush is a story about the life of a man who was saved by an Indian chief during the Mountain Man Survival Program. The protagonist, called "Number One" by the Indian chief, is told by Red Wolf to find an old mountain man and tell him that he has three days before he dies. Number one sets out to find this old mountain man but after some time finding him proves more difficult than he had anticipated.
The Absaroka Ambush is the first in a series of stories about Deputy D.J. Hensley and his wife, Tressa, who are back for their second case since he was shot during the previous case. They're back to work when Tressa's sister-in-law, Rainy Day Smith, comes to town unexpectedly--and she isn't alone. Her daughter, Delilah Smith is with her--and she has an arrow in her back. Everyone knows that Archers don't kill themselves--and they want money from the deputy sheriff's bank account...
The story begins with an ambush of three buffalo hunters on their way to Montana. The hunters are killed, and the body of one is found. Soon after, a group of lawmen, led by Marshal Franklin "Red" Blaisdell and his deputy, Deputy Jake Johnson, arrives in Absaroka County to investigate. Then it becomes apparent that there are more than just the three killers involved in this crime. The sheriff and deputy soon learn that they're not the only ones investigating this crime; there's also a bounty hunter who's been looking for the killers.
