The story begins with a murder trial, which is told from the perspective of both the protagonist, Callie Thorne, and her aunt Rachel Adams. At first, it can seem confusing to follow but as you read on over time some things may become more clear and make the story easier to understand at this point.

Jude Deveraux was an author of the romantic suspense novels that were immensely popular from the 60s to the 80's. A Justified Murder is one of the many titles that Deveraux wrote, in which a woman sets out to prove her fiancé's innocence after he is falsely accused of murdering his business rival.

This audiobook is an all-time classic. It tells the story of a woman who killed her fiance in order to protect her family. The protagonist, Scarlet, is a 19th century woman who becomes engaged to Martin, a wealthy man with a dark past. He's angry and possessive so she begins looking for other options. One day she overhears him plotting the murder of her sister and realizes that if he does do this, her mother will be ruined and have to leave their home

This is a story about a justice system gone wrong. The situation is a bit like the movie Twelve Angry Men, only instead of one man on trial for murder, it shows how 12 men get caught up in the system and some eventually get put on trial for murder as well.

The Justified Murder by Jude Deveraux is a captivating and suspenseful novel from the beginning. It's a book that would make an excellent audiobook as well. Susan Bennett narrates this audiobook and she does an excellent job with her narration.
