The jacket of this audiobook had me hooked, and the story itself was so much fun. I just loved how these two unlikely characters found each other. ["Pearl"] is an old lady who feels like she's been waiting her entire life for someone to come along and soften her a little bit. And then "Jack" shows up - tall, dark, handsome - and she can't resist him! Before you know it they're falling in love, but there's one problem: Jack is not who he says he is. When [Pearl] finally catches on to his little game, the whole story takes on a twisty turn that keeps you guessing until the very end.

A Counterfeit Suitor was a delightful audiobook with a wonderful narration by Pearl Hewitt. The book's heroine is a young widow in 1840s England that has to find someone to marry as her late husband left her no money. She sets out to search for a suitor and quickly learns that looks are not everything, which is what leads me to giving this book four stars rather than five stars.
