A Cold Treachery Free Audiobook Download by Charles Todd
A Cold Treachery by Charles Todd is an audiobook based on the novel of the same name. The story follows a British soldier and his wife as they are caught up in a Cold War drama. They find themselves in German territory and must figure out a way to escape their captors. This story is a thriller-mystery that has lots of twists, turns, and suspenseful moments. If you enjoy this genre, then this is the book for you.
Charles Todd is a pseudonym for the talented author C.J. Tudor, who writes mysteries set in Scotland. All of the Charles Todd books are set in the same world and follow him as he solves crime cases that have been done over centuries with honor and integrity. In this book, he investigates five murders that took place on Christmas Eve during World War II, when people were more in tune with their faith than with their humanity.
The year is 1871 in Edinburgh, Scotland. The newspapers are full of tales of the Highland Clearances and the plight of the Gaelic people, who have been driven from their homes to make way for sheep herds. But Mary Elizabeth MacKintosh knows better than anyone that while she may be forced to go, she will not go alone. She has a small but loyal group of friends to keep her company - including her housekeeper, Jenny - and she won't let them be taken from her by those who would rather see them starve than live as free people.
In today's world of technology, most people think that the future is here and now. After all, the next big thing is already around the corner, they say. But sometimes history can teach us what we should expect - even things that seem impossible at first. In this case, time travel was not only possible but had been a reality for centuries and always resulted in death. So when Dr. Roger Walker witnessed a woman from another time traveling back to her own time period with his own eyes, he knew he would have to do anything he could to stop her for good and save her life as well as the lives of others she may be able to save by going back in time herself.
A Cold Treachery was a slow starter to the series but finally took off, and in my opinion, it's the best book in the series. When WWII veteran Major Peter Reith is sent to investigate reports of sabotage at an airfield in Russia, he finds himself embroiled in a much deeper conspiracy than he ever imagined.
A Cold Treachery is the ninth installment in the crime-solvers series by Charles Todd. In this episode, a strangled body is found at the bottom of a frozen lake, and as Lieutenant Colonel Archie Ferguson examines the victim's pockets in search of clues, he discovers a list of names with an address in Glasgow, Scotland.
