Wizard's First Rule Free Audiobook Download by Terry Goodkind

Terry Goodkind is famous for his Sword of Truth series. The first book in the series, Wizard's First Rule, tells the story of a world where magic has been outlawed and wizards are hunted down. The life of a wizard is full of peril, but the two main characters are thrust into even more danger when they find themselves on opposing sides of a battle between good and evil.

As a young man, Richard Cypher is tricked into going on a quest to find the lost Sword of Truth and become the Wizard's First Rule. As the story progresses, he comes across many other people and creatures as they run through magical worlds. He eventually becomes more attached to them as certain individuals come to his aid in his quest for the blade.

The first audiobook in the Sword of Truth series is an excellent introduction to Terry Goodkind's world. The story follows a young boy named Rand al'Thor, who is thrust into a new destiny after fulfilling an ancient prophecy and being called the Dragon Reborn. Along with his newfound assistance comes enemies: the Dark One, an insanity-inducing demonic force that seeks to destroy all living things, and the ever-manipulating Foretelling Sisters.

The first rule of magic is that it's impossible. That's the same rule of science, too. So what makes a story believable? One could argue that the plot twists of an author are so unbelievable as to be unbelievable. But readers often like stories where there are no real "good guys" or "bad guys". It's not that they don't believe in those moral distinctions, but they can't relate to them.

I had never heard of it before and decided to give it a try. The first few chapters were very interesting, but the narrator soon became annoying me with his drawling voice, so I switched to a female narrator who was much more tolerable.
