The Wave Free Audiobook Download by Walter Mosley
The Wave is a book that has been on my to-read list for a while. It is the most recent in Mosley's Easy Rawlins series. I finally got around to finishing it and found it was everything I thought it would be, and more. Cain's narration helps bring the book alive, with his gravelly tone of voice providing an excellent juxtaposition to what is going on in the story.
Walter Mosley's novel "The Wave" is an existential, coming-of-age story of a young boy who lives with his mother and grandmother in Los Angeles. The main character, Curtis Jackson Jr., has just lost his father in the Vietnam War and is fighting to keep afloat at home. One day, after Curtis is left alone on the beach during a storm with nothing but the wave to keep him company, he begins to experience something new. He finds that he can communicate with the wave as if it were another person and suddenly realizes that a wave must not be simply water; it must also be people. What began as an eerily peaceful encounter between two solitary beings becomes a heartbreaking moment filled with love and loss as Curtis learns that waves are more than just water.
The Wave is a detective novel by author Walter Mosley. Detective Leonid McGill comes across a homeless man who has killed himself with a shotgun while standing on the shoreline of Lake Pontchartrain. The suicide note leaves only one clue: "the wave."
Many people have never read the classic novel "The Wave" by Walter Mosley. In his latest book, "The Long Fall," Serge Nadjari is sentenced to a life-term in an American prison for bank robbery and it's in that prison where he reads The Wave. He soon learns of the crime's aftermath through an inmate who witnessed the scene and passes on what he knows along with some advice--something we all probably should do when reading a book.
The Wave is narrated by Tim Cain and tells the story of a teenager named Otis who encounters a strange woman in an elevator. He struggles to make sense of what she tells him and goes on a journey to find her. The book takes place during Hurricane Katrina, and it's set in New Orleans before the hurricane hits. The author alternates between present tense and past tense chapters to create this effect.
The Wave is a mystery novel about three men who are trying to solve a crime that involves finances, power, and family history. The book revolves around the protagonist, Easy Rawlins. The story opens with an introduction to Easy Rawlins as he is swimming in the ocean while wearing his watch and chain. We then learn that he has been retired for some time because of old age and memory loss. He was an army veteran who fought in WWI. He worked as a private investigator before the war, but after the war he became known as "The Ghost", because of his ability to quietly disappear into the crowds. When he was younger he had not just been African-American, but also Mexican-American and Native American. He was raised by his mother who did not approve of her father's view on race relations. Easy's mother died when she was young leaving him unable to remember what happened between her and her father.
