This is the second book in Tad Williams's Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn series. It picks up shortly after the previous book with a lot of adventures for Ciri and Geralt still on the go. The narrative in this audiobook is excellent and Andrew Wincott does a great job at narrating it.
The Stone of Farewell: Book Two of Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn is a grand epic tale. It is set in the land of Osten Ard, that is where its story takes place. The main character, Sitha Sinthia, has to undergo many trials before she can reach her final destination. She embarks on a journey with Larken Aleson and Bera Hissilla to the mysterious stone of farewell.
With the god-emperor's collapse, Ged has been on a journey of self-discovery. He must accept his role as the first sword in this new world order, even as he struggles to come to terms with who he is and what that means. But when his search for identity takes him into conflict with the empire's most powerful leaders, old alliances are shattered and new ones are forged.
In Memory, Sorrow and Thorn, the second volume in the Memory, Sorrow and Thorn by Tad Williams, the once-great city of Elantris has been reduced to a crumbling ruin. The eponymous Stone of Farewell is a talisman that has protected the city for centuries, but it is now failing and there appears to be no possible recourse. With no other options available, Princess Raoden must find a way to save his people while searching for the dark secrets of his own past.
"I remember you once said that the best writers are people who can tell truth from fiction." "That might be true," replied Frith. "But don't think the stories are always true. If they were, we'd need no magic or anyone to tell us what was real or not."
