The Shadow of the Gods Free Audiobook Download by John Gwynne
This is a tale of two worlds and how they are linked. The world of the gods and the world of men. One well-known example is Norse mythology. It's a story that everyone knows, but often people forget the humans were connected to this world as well. Every age has their own god, but the old gods have been forgotten by humanity and now only a few still remember what happened over 4000 years ago. Despite being one of my favorite books in 2015 it was tragically overlooked for awards by not winning any or even being nominated for some award so I decided to give it a go before deciding if that was due to its genre or because it wasn't really that good. What I found was an interesting story with interesting characters, exciting action
John Gwynne's newest book is a thrilling fantasy novel. [The Shadow of the Gods] finds the world of men and gods on the brink of war once more, but this time with new Gods rising to challenge the Old One's dominance. As this battle begins, religions start to clash and ancient mysteries are uncovered.
The Shadow of the Gods is an audiobook by John Gwynne. The story starts off with a band of mercenaries being led by the protagonist, Caillean, as they are traveling through the hills of Eira. They find a settlement under attack by raiders and try to rally their forces to help. It soon becomes clear that these people are not human and even more complicated than that is how Caillean gets involved in it all.
A rich tale of the struggles between empires. The protagonist is a general in the army of the emperor, but sees the world from the perspectives of a woman who is forced to be a concubine and a small boy who is sold into slavery.
One day, when I was four, I saw my father kill a man. But not just any man. A god. And it wasn't the first time he'd done it. The gods had flooded across our land, sprinkling the earth with their blood and fire. They'd come to steal children - to make them into mindless slaves of darkness who would do anything they commanded...
The Shadow of the Gods is the fourth book in The Faithful and the Fallen series and picks up right where things left off. In this book, we see a number of new character's introduced. This includes a group of people who have been imprisoned in a dungeon called "The Pit" for nearly thirty years by Lady Radella as punishment for their crimes who are finally freed by Brighid and Marcus.
