The Mark of the Dragonfly Free Audiobook Download by Jaleigh Johnson
Jaleigh Johnson's debut novel The Mark of the Dragonfly has a lot to recommend it. I love the message- and the execution was quite good.
Kim is a girl who has grown up hunting and selling dragonfly skins to feed her family's inner city lifestyle. When she accidentally kills a dragonfly, she becomes a pawn in the battle between two opposing forces: the Painted Man and the Mark of the Dragonfly. Not long into Kim's story, I was hooked on the book. It became so immersive that it felt like it was happening in real life.
What a fabulous, heart-warming story! I really enjoyed this book and the narration by Kim Mai Guest. The plot is similar to other books that deal with people trying to find their true identity - only in this case, it's from a dragonfly's perspective. I've never read anything like it before so it was fresh and fun for me.

The Mark of the Dragonfly is a young adult fantasy, set in a world of avid gamers and those with cybernetic enhancements--the perfect mix of the ordinary and the extraordinary. The protagonist, Glory, was always known for her ability to create worlds in her head through gaming, but this talent takes on a whole new meaning when she starts dreaming about dragons. Glory soon finds herself in a struggle between two competing realities: the real world and one where she's an online gamer who has to fight her way out of virtual reality.
The Mark of the Dragonfly is a story about a nine year old boy named Filario who has dreams of becoming a dragonfly. As he grows up he realizes that his family doesn't have much and that he has to find out how to make money for them. He comes across an abandoned house and in it finds an old box with papers inside. He reads the papers after the disappearance of his mother. They contain recipes from different time periods, so Filario sees if he can find something from them to sell. The recipe he comes up with is edible insects, which can be turned into salsa or dip.
