The Caged Dragon Free Audiobook Download by Dan Michaelson,D.K. Holmberg
A beautifully written story of bravery and redemption. Holmberg's writing had such a profound effect on me that I found it hard to put the book down. The characters are hilarious, raw, and well-developed, but at the same time flawed and relatable. It was a quick read that left me with a new appreciation for life.
The Caged Dragon audiobook download from audible.com brings listeners a story about the survival of one such dragon, who is caught and rescued by the protagonist. It is a fantastic book that is narrated by Brian Holden, who does an amazing job of bringing this story to life.
The Caged Dragon is a novel about an immigrant's journey to America. In the year 1842, a boy named Gyllen finds refuge in Sweden after war breaks out in his native Norway. He becomes an apprentice to the prestigious metalworker Nicolaus, but Nicolaus is consumed by guilt over the death of a child who was hit by one of his swords. The story of Nicolaus is later told to Gyllen by two women: his wife, Marianne, and their daughter Signe. As Gyllen grows up and falls in love with Signe, he goes on a journey of self-discovery that will lead him back to Norway and the family he left behind.
The audiobook is narrated by Brian Holden and is based on an ancient Norse myth. In this story, a dragon has been captured in a cage and gifted to the king of Denmark as a pet. The dragon becomes intelligent and starts to use his intelligence against the people who are trying to keep him in captivity.
The Caged Dragon has been nominated for an AudioFile Earphones Award, and the blurb on the back of the book says that it is "a book about a boy and a dragon, who must face their darkest fears together."
