The man turns out to be her new boss, Dr. Daney Hunter, who has offered her more than just a job in his lab- he's made a real effort to connect with Suzanna on levels beyond work. He seems to genuinely care about what she wants and needs in life, and he holds doors for her as one would for someone more important than themselves.
