Someone Perfect by Mary Balogh has always been my favorite historical romance. The first time I read it, I laughed out loud at the story of Fanny and the Marquis of Dovedale. Every time I return to this book, I am still enchanted by the characters and their witty banter.

The heroine, Anna Thorne, is the daughter of a poor gypsy family and she's determined to make her own way in life by marrying for wealth and social status. When an uncharacteristic encounter with Mr. Sheridan leaves Anna shaken and realizing her goals have been set too high she turns to her trusty dog to help her find someone perfect for both of them.

Someone Perfect by Mary Balogh is a book about a woman that grew up in an orphanage and the high society woman she becomes. Their paths cross again in London where the rich heiress is struggling with her new lover's son and the struggling orphan has just opened a tea shop. The two women find that they were brought together for a reason and their love story transforms them both.
