Syren is the fifth installment in The Septimus Heap series. As our protagonist, Jenna, and her family are about to embark on a trip to visit her aunt and uncle on their farm, the Crows come knocking at their door. They want Syren, Jenna's mother-in-law's tamed seahorse and one of Septimus's enchanted creatures. They are not going to take no for an answer so Jenna must find a way to protect Syren. She travels together with Syren into the sewers below Cold Snap Lake where they meet Madame Olga, who decides to help them.
