RUSH Free Audiobook Download by Lisa Lang Blakeney

In RUSH, Lisa Blakeney takes readers back to the summer of 1988 when she was a fourteen-year-old girl with a crush. The first in the series, RUSH tells the story of Abigail, who aspires to be like her father, a famous detective who lives on the edge.

RUSH is about a girl named Cassie who struggles with the fact that she's been diagnosed with cancer. While she was in the hospital, her parents died and her brother had to take care of her following their passing. While in the hospital Cassie had time to think and during her recovery, she started to realize that life is short and things are not always what they seem.

It's been a few years since I purchased the audiobook of GONE GIRL by Gillian Flynn and loved it. Since then, I have become more and more interested in buying audiobooks while on vacation. I enjoy listening to books while being distracted by the sights outside my window, making a break from reality. It is possible to find amazing authors to listen to on audible who you might never have heard of before, if you want something new.

This is the first book of Lisa Lang Blakeney's that I have read, and I loved it. The main character, RUSH, is a teenage girl who discovers the magical world of motorcycles by rescuing one from the junkyard. Her love for bikes only grows after she takes her first ride on one and ends up getting pulled over by a bad guy that leads to a life-altering choice for her. Along with being an engaging story about motorcycles and friendship, this book also includes romance that can seem kind of cliche at times but does work well with the overall plot.

RUSH by Lisa Lang Blakeney is a story about the life of Eric Brown, an ambitious and talented art student who struggles with anxiety. This anxiety escalates to full-blown panic attacks that leave him isolated and desperate for answers. The only thing he knows for sure is that he wants to be a successful artist--anything less would be a lesser existence.

The characters in the novel are flawed, interesting and complex. Blakeney pieces together her family history which leads to a mystery. She cross-examines her own emotions and thoughts throughout the book. The audiobook is beautifully narrated by Jeremy York and Brooke Hayden who each lend their own distinctive voice to the character of Rush.
