No Man's Mistress Free Audiobook Download by Mary Balogh
Mary Balogh is no stranger to the historical romance genre, as evidenced by her long list of books. No Man's Mistress is a tale of love and deceit in 18th century England with a rather scandalous turn.
[In this novel] ...the heroine, Anne, is not allowed to marry for love but must instead choose the wealthy businessman for whom she acts as mistress.
In a world where women have lost their rights and become property, Lady Arabella Corwen has the power to control the hearts of men. She's learned how to turn them into slaves who will do anything she desires, but when Arabella meets Matthew Raine, she falls in love with him and is willing to risk everything for him.
Mary Balogh is the author of many popular books including "The Egoist", which was later adapted into a play and a Hollywood film. No Man's Mistress is not one of them, but it is quite magical. It tells the story of Miss Evangeline Fanshawe, an actress who has a habit of falling in love with her leading men. The first man she meets is the rake Lord Tristan Beauchamp, and he leads her down the path to ruin. In this story, romance comes crashing back in at every turn.
"You are my Mistress. I am your slave. I will never leave you." Such a simple statement, yet it can change the course of a woman's life. These words spoken by an unknown man one night as he lay in his bed at the inn where she worked triggers an intense desire within her to know more about his identity. This was my first audiobook from Audible so I really had no idea what to expect when it came to narration or production quality. And quite frankly, Rosalyn Landor did not disappoint me on the former. Her performance is enchanting, and her voice is both strong and soft in all the right moments - I loved it!
