In his debut young adult novel, 'Mortal Gods' author Benjamin Medrano does a great job of creating a unique world. The book is set at the end of time and in this society, gods are humans with supernatural powers. In order to survive these gods have to give up their immortality in exchange for living long enough to earn it back by doing good deeds. One of the main characters, Sundari, finds herself torn between her desire to save humanity and her need to help protect her family. She must decide between two worlds- mortal or immortal.
I loved this audiobook so much. I really found out about how mortal gods are made by Ben's experiences, and it was a fantastic idea for an audiobook. I also loved the narrator, Sarah Beth Goer, because she did a phenomenal job of bringing to life the characters in the book.
Mortal Gods is a Victorian steampunk novel. It tells the story of two young people, one a god and the other a human, who must learn to coexist with each other in order to survive the world around them.
