Mageborn:The Blacksmith's Son Free Audiobook Download by Michael G. Manning

Mageborn:The Blacksmith's Son has been described as a cross between "Harry Potter" and "The Lord of the Rings". The book is about a boy named Luthar who travels to the world of Elden with his mother. They are joined by a stranger who gives them gifts that whisk them away.

Young orphan, Michael G. Manning, dreams of being a blacksmith like his father. He is gifted in the art of forging metals from the land and aspires to do great things in his career. But when his father’s blacksmith shop burns down with him inside, Michael surrenders to fate and takes up life as an indentured servant under a harsh master.

I am a fan of audiobooks and have been for many years. I was delighted to find this book on Audible, narrated by the author himself. The story develops from an action-packed beginning with the young Michael as he learns about his father's trade and seeks to escape his mother's overbearing ways. Michael is full of spunk as he swashbuckles his way through various adventures in this fantasy novel that is told from the perspective of three different POVs: the protagonist, his father, and a mysterious character called "The Wise Man".

In "Mageborn," Michael G. Manning brings readers back to a time when the world was primitive and innocent, when there were no wars and greed was unknown.

Of the three books in Michael G. Manning's Mageborn fantasy series, the first was my favorite. Mageborn:The Blacksmith's Son tells the story from a young boy's view and begins with him just awakening from a dream that is not quite yet reality. The book follows the boy's father as he sets off on a journey to find lost family members. The father, known only as 'the blacksmith', is joined by his son and friend Olrik in search for his wife, daughter, and nephew with very little hope for success.

Michael G. Manning's novel, Mageborn:The Blacksmith's Son is about a young man named Kyric who has the ability to create weapons and armor from metal using his hands alone. He is the son of a blacksmith and the apprentice to a master metalsmith in a medieval setting. He learns that he will not only have to learn how to be a craftsman, but also has to learn how to fight if he wants to protect his family and honor their legacy.
