Longing Free Audiobook Download by Mary Balogh

"Longing" is the second novel in the "Chronicles of Avonlea" by Mary Balogh. The protagonist is Anne Shirley, a young girl in 1870s Canada who dreams of visiting Europe. She has a great imagination and expresses her longings through poetry and dance.

Esmond is a young man who has the misfortune of being the heir to a dukedom, bound by the entailment to be married to his cousin, who already hates and despises him. Sent off to India with his grandmother while still in his teens, he embarks upon a new life as an army officer, where he meets and falls in love with Marianne - but she is engaged.

Longing is the first in Mary Balogh's collection of short stories, and is based around a young woman who has been raised by her aunt after her parents died. She rebels against her aunt's control with a scheme to surprise them at their wedding anniversary celebration. After a series of bad choices, she ends up having to live with the consequences for weeks and months.

Mary Balogh is one of my favorite authors and I love audiobooks because they allow me to read way more books than I would otherwise. I choose Longing as my first audiobook because it's such a classic and so beautifully narrated.

"It's a time of year when the drab reality of life gets under our skin." The words are from the protagonist, Lady Rosalyn Landor, also known as Mrs. Michael Anstruther-Wetherby. Yearning is an audiobook about the passionate romance between Rosalyn and Michael when she enters his life just before the start of WWI in London.

Longing is a novel set in 1814 England. The novel centers on Anne Elliot, a young woman who has just graduated from school and inherited her father's estate after his death. The most important person in her life is Captain Frederick Wentworth, to whom she is engaged to marry. However, unfortunately for Anne, he is not the man of her dreams and the marriage will never be done with rapture and joy.
